A Russian scientist in La Réunion for a scientific exchange

Sergey Slobodov, deputy director at the Earth Science Museum of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, arrived to the Réunion Island on the 7th of May 2010 to spent 2 month working as a part of the RUN Sea Science project. His research fields are : Hydrozoa reproduction, jelly-fishes life cycles and biology. Taking part in this project has allowed Mr. Slobodov to carry out a first and never done study, which he first started to work on as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Université de la Réunion between October 2005 and September 2006. His experience and knowledge of jelly-fish and coral reefs will complete the assessment of Chloé Bourmaud (university lecturer and researcher at the ECOMAR laboratory) and Nicole Gravier-Bonnet (researcher associate at the Réunion University) ; both of whom are distinguished specialists of Hydrozoa. The RUN Sea Science project would allow Mr Slobodov to complete two of his joint publications. He will also be involved in the organisation of a workshop where he can share and discuss his findings with other scientists and project participants. This highly valuable to scientific community exchange will also initiate new collaborations between the Russian and Reunionese scientific platforms.
